Role of Pre-Insulated Ducts in HVAC Systems

While ducts are primarily attributed for ventilation purposes, they serve more in air conditioning especially when it comes to thermal insulation.

Thermal bridge is a basic of heat transfer or conducting heat that may result if a house or building was built with minimal to no insulation. On the other hand, thermal convection centers on the transfer of heat on fluids in a building. Depending on the materials used, pre-insulated duct deals with all these things.

These days, a lot of pre-insulated ducts can be selected from in the market. Choosing the kind of duct to use on an HVAC system differs greatly on how much budget there is, lay out of a building, cost of energy, climate and many other preferences. Alternatively, cellulose is resistant to fire, efficient insulator and environment friendly. On the down side though, cellulose can be difficult to apply. Polyurethane foam is widely used these days as it is not just cheap but also an all-around and efficient insulator. The only disadvantage is it is not that eco-friendly. Pyrogels and aerogels are thought of to be the most efficient insulation materials developed but they are high in cost to be utilized widely.

The use of these HVAC pre-insulated duct materials should be taken with much consideration. Bear in mind that it is not just the comfort within climate control that should be thought of but also how much energy you could possibly save in a cooling or heating system.
